Want to Hire Me to Perform?

Contact Me / Hire Me

Now that you’ve seen what an asset I will be to your festival, you want to hire me, right? The quickest way to do so is to contact me via email so that we can discuss compensation, dates, etc. Please note that I am one of those persnickety actors that likes to have time to prepare for a role. It is not uncommon for me to be booked in January for a festival that opens in September.

PLUS, since I make my own costuming, I need time to research and develop the clothing for the character, unless I’m performing one of my “old standbys” you’ve already read about. So don’t dawdle and email me at talent (at) myfairelady (dot) com right now!

And just so you’ll be prepared for the questions I’ll ask you while we’re talking, here are some basic points that will enter into our negotiations so that you understand how I arrive at my fees:

  • Distance and travel time: Since I live in Northern New Hampshire, I recognize that I will have to travel quite a distance to most events. Even the nearest airport is about 2 hours away by car. Naturally, the costs associated with hiring me will vary depending on whether I have to catch a flight or if I can drive to your festival. My preference is to keep driving time to 2-3 hours at most.
  • Type of character to be portrayed: Whom you are considering me to play will also affect my fees. Just consider the difference in prep time and “on” time to play QEI vs. the peasant Molly Mishap, not to mention the cost of costuming the Queen, wear and tear on the garb, wear and tear on me from being corseted, farthingaled, bum-rolled, ruffed and cuffed all day, etc.
  • Size of your event: I like to work with new venues as well as established festivals. As such, I recognize that the budget for a new event will be more restrictive. I can work with you and adjust my fee in an equitable manner. I expect that as your festival grows, so will my compensation.
  • Weekend gig or non-holiday weekday gig?: Like most actors, I have a full-time “day” job. Because of where I live (see travel time above), I normally have to take the Friday and Monday off of work for travel if I’m flying to a weekend show. I expect to do this and it is built into my performance fee. However, if you would like me to arrive a day or two early for rehearsals, promos, etc., I can accommodate you, but there will be an additional daily fee to compensate for my loss of “regular” wages. It is regrettable, but an unavoidable reality.
  • Availability of lodging, etc?: It is highly unlikely that your show will be located close enough to my home that I will be able to sleep in my own bed. Therefore, I will need a place to stay. Oftentimes, festivals are able to procure hotel rooms at a reduced rate or even as part of a sponsorship package. If you can provide me with a clean NON-SMOKING room to stay in, you get a reduced rate. If you have camping or other amenities available, that may also be an option, depending on the character I’m asked to play. If my clothes can be rumpled for the character, I can camp. If I have to look clean and presentable, well–you get the idea.

Once we’ve determined the who, what, when, where of the gig, we can start talking fees. So what are you waiting for? Contact me right now! Send me an email to: talent (at) myfairelady (dot) com today!
